“I’ve always been fascinated by the tattoo genre and by waiting until I was in my forties I was sure it was something I wanted to do,” Barbara told us. Five stars on her wrist representing her five decades of life show how tattoos can symbolize milestones and a small feather behind her ear still surprises and delights her when she does her hair.

Barbara also has several piercings on her ears and says all her body art fits right in with her suburban lifestyle. “Tattoos and piercings are more accepted now. I never hear anything negative.” And while Barbara’s husband may not ever get a tattoo or a piercing, “He loves how they look on me,” she said.
